Mordros is a Cornish word meaning the sound of the sea - exactly what I can hear from my garden where I designed and knitted this sweater.

This is a timeless sweater in a lightweight yarn designed to be worn over a summer top.

It’s an easy stocking stitch design with naturally rolling hems and cuffs, with a 3-needle shoulder cast-off and sleeves knitted on from the body for minimal seaming at the end.

Also available with the hand dyed yarn as a knit kit from www.perranyarns.co.uk

To fit bust sizes
Cm: 80 (95, 105, 120, 130, 145, 155)
In: 32 (38, 42, 48, 52, 58, 62)
Note: This sweater is designed to be worn with at least 1in of positive ease over a camisole or tee

Yarn requirements
Approx 2 (2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3) skeins of Perran Yarns Egyptian Lace yarn (50% baby alpaca, 25% linen, 25% silk, 600 m / 656 yds per 100g)

The same amount of yarn may be substituted with Perran Yarns Decadence Lace yarn (80% British BFL, 20% silk, 600 m / 656 yds per 100g)

If substituting with other yarn you will require approx 660 (948, 1041, 1218, 1301, 1463, 1545) m / 722 (1037, 1139, 1332, 1423, 1601, 1690) yds of heavy laceweight / 3-ply yarn

Other requirements

  • 1 extra 4.5mm straight knitting needle if doing 3-needle bind-off to seam shoulders
  • 2 stitch holders if doing 3-needle bind-off to seam shoulders
  • Darning needle
  • 4 oddments of contrasting colour yarn to mark sleeve placement

I found that bamboo/wooden needles held the stitches without being as slippery as metal ones, but go with your preference.

The following approximate amounts of yarn will be leftover, which can be used to make the sweater longer if required: 88 (40, 23, 95, 80, 53, 40) grams.
