Morgan is a quick little hat to showcase pretty handspun yarn, or it can be made in any commercial sportweight wool or wool blend.

Constructed starting at the brim, stitches are then picked up to form the top of the hat, which has a lovely chevron lace pattern.

The sample shown was dyed prior to spinning with iDye in brilliant blue. To get a similar effect, wet out 4oz of merino (or spinning fiber of your choice), place in a pot small enough to keep the fiber fairly densely packed and cover with warm water. With a gloved hand insert iDye pack into one spot and bring the temperature up to just below boiling, do not stir. Letting the iDye dissolve in one spot will produce a tonal kettle dyed effect. When dye bath is exhausted or your preferred depth of shade is reached, allow bath to cool. Rinse gently, hang to dry and spin away.
