Simply enough, the horizontal cable pattern on the cowl reminded me of the morning glories crawling and winding up the fence everywhere in my yard (they’re ladders for faeries, you see). The cowl is lovely knitted up all by itself. Add a roomy hood for more warmth!

With the larger needles and some very basic cable and lace knitting skills, this is an easy pattern to knit – stockinette stitch is used for shaping, style and simplicity.

However, this pattern also involves a provisional cast-on, picking up stitches and more advanced grafting techniques. If you are not familiar with these techniques, I suggest having a reference guide handy and reading up before you begin/
