Morse code is a nice way to knit a secret message into a hat. I’d already knit a F*ck Cancer Hat for a friend, but I wanted her to have a more subtle chemo cap, as well.

You can work the Morse code in a few different ways, but for this message, you need two rows with the code. You can change the message to whatever works for you, keeping in mind that Morse code takes up a lot of stitches (at least the way I did it).

The most subtle version of this hat has two stripes, with purl stitches forming the dots and dashes of the message.

Another version is all knit, but slips a contrast-color yarn to the front to form the dots and dashes. A folded up hem hides the ends.

My current favorite version is all knit, with a contrast-color yarn forming the letters in knit stitches. two-color knitting. Again, a folded up hem hides the ends.

The hat fits most adult heads. You could easily switch to a smaller yarn or fewer stitches to fit smaller heads.

F..-ck cancer!
