Mosaic Advent Scarf 2016
The theme this year for my advent scarf is Mosaic. This is a continuous pattern as opposed to a stitch sampler scarf. The mosaic pattern is going to slowly mutate as the pattern progresses, so that the end of the scarf will be different from the start.
I’m using a Berroco Ultra Alpaca Fine and Dalegarn Erle. These happen to be a fingering weight and a laceweight yarn. Using a laceweight yarn is not critical to the design. I just happen to like the fabric, so if you don’t choose to use a fine mohair yarn, then choose 2 fingering weights. The important thing is to have good contrast between your two yarns. If you choose a heavier weight yarn, your scarf will be wider. Mine is measuring 6.5 inches wide and will be between 60 and 65 inches long.
The pattern is charted with right side rows only. In Mosaic knitting the wrong side rows mimic the right side rows. There are written directions as well. I’ll be giving 30 rows a day. There is a dedicated Advent Scarf thread in the Sock Madness Forever Please feel welcome to join us.
The pattern is free for the duration of advent (Nov 27- Dec 24) and the pattern will start on November 27th. I upload late in the evening for the following days knitting, so I will be uploading the cast on instructions and the first day’s knitting late on the 26th. I will be taking the pattern down briefly on the 26th of December. It will have pictures added, tidied up and re added to ravelry as a paid pattern. It is my understanding that when a pattern is offered for free on ravelry, that you do not receive notifications in your messages for the new uploads. It is up to you to remember to come on to rav and upload the new days knitting. It will be a cumulative file, so if you don’t start on time, all the days knitting will there on the day you choose to start.
Dec 27,2016 Pattern has been taken down. It will be back soon in its entirety for a fee. Glad so many of you were able to enjoy it throughout the Advent period.
