Per request, I’ve adapted this pattern to use a solid color and several mini-skeins of fingering weight yarn: the Colorshift Mosaic Cowl! If you purchase the Mosaic Cowl pattern, you can get the Colorshift Mosaic Cowl pattern free by using the code MOSAIC at checkout.

This cowl uses slipped stitch patterns, also called mosaic knitting. The patterns are created using only one color per round.

I’ve designed this cowl to start with an easy slipped stitch pattern, then move to a slightly more difficult one, then on to an even more difficult one. By the time you get to the center chevron pattern, you’ll have a sense of how patterns develop in mosaic knitting, and knitting it will be simple and intuitive.

Choose two contrasty colors of worsted weight yarn and get going! You can have a cowl in a few days and a new technique under your belt!
