This unisex scarf is a fun introduction to slipped-stitch or mosaic knitting. The construction is simple; 9 different blocks are separated by rows of garter stitch, and a mitred garter border is knit on after the scarf is complete.

Although the patterns look complicated, at no time do you knit with more than a single colour in each row. Slipped stitches result in very interesting textures and can even resemble fair-isle. The instructions are given in chart form only, so you’ll need to know how to read a chart.

The scarf requires approximately 100g of the main colour and 50g each of two contrast colours.

Soft yarns with good drape, such as superwash merino or alpaca, are recommended.
