This scarf is made in the mosaic knitting technique in which one color is used across the row and the specified stitches of the opposite color are slipped instead of knitting them, creating the vertical lines. Mosaic knitting is quite easy and satisfying!

The mosaic scarf is made with 1 ball of #226 Black and 1/2 ball of hand-dyed #201 Winter White. Note: This was my first attempt at dyeing yarn, which you can read about in my blog post. The blog post includes a link to my 12 page pdf tutorial on dyeing yarn with Easter Egg dyes.

Since I didn’t want the hand-dyed yarn to pool, I decided to design a mosaic scarf with it. It worked out great and there was absolutely NO pooling!

The scarf can easily be made wider by adding another pattern repeat and it can be made longer by working more repeats, as well.

The pattern includes both written instructions and a mosaic knitting chart.
