I’d been looking forward to trying out this handdyed yarn from the time I first heard about it a year ago, and when I finally got my hands on some, it very quickly told me what it wanted to be - a cute girl’s cardigan with some flirty little details at the hem, and enough to texture to really bring out the shading in the yarn (but which would also look good in a solid). My daughter model wasn’t thrilled when she saw the yarn color at first (it was neither pink nor purple), but once the cardigan was done she couldn’t wait to put it on. So much for my plans to offer it as a shop sample, but it’s the best compliment she could have given the design!

The cardigan is begun by knitting the bottom section sideways, and then by picking up stitches along the top of that section and knitting the bodice bottom up. Short rows are used to add the bell-shaped patterning at the bottom of the cardigan. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the armhole, with the sleeve cap shaped with short rows, and then knit top down. Finally, the front band stitches are picked up around the front edges and worked in garter stitch, with some shaping where the front and the back neck stitches meet.

For those knitters who live in countries where they may apply, there are no licensing restrictions on this pattern.
