The texture of this moss-like stitch is the perfect mixture of density and airiness that you need in a washcloth.

Size:
Approximately 7in or 18cm square.

Hook:
• I used a size H (5mm) hook.

Gauge:
Approximately 4 stitches per inch, but gauge is unimportant.

Notions:
• Tapestry needle

Yarn:
• The sample I made used: Hobby Lobby, I Love This Cotton (worsted weight, 4 ply, 153 yards per 85g skein, 100% cotton), in the colorway “Woods.”
• Any worsted weight yarn in 100% cotton will work for this project.
• You will need around 50 yards, or 25g, per washcloth.

Notes:
• The size and stitch count can be easily modified; just keep it an even number.
• Cotton sheds fibers the first time it touches water, so make sure you launder your washcloth before use.
• This pattern uses US terminology.

Skills Needed:
Perfect for beginners, this simple pattern utilizes:
• single crochet
• chain stitches
