sizes: 2-4, 4-8 years

Corrections:

  1. When casting on the larger (4-8 years) size, stitches should be distributed 13 on each needle (not 16 on each needle as in PDF).

  2. As written by Maegrette: The heel flap has 22 (26) stitches. You then work 7 (9) rows with a decrease in each row, and are supposed to end up with 12 (16) stitches. Then in the gusset shaping, you pick up 24 (28) stitches and add the 22 (26) stitches on holders from the instep, and are supposed to end up with 60 (70) stitches total. That last step works for the large size, but not for the small.

For both sizes, I just worked a decrease into the last row of the heel flap (knit the last two stitches together), which results in 14 (16) stitches. This has the added bonus of bringing you to the end of the row, which the pattern doesn’t do as written. These 14 stitches for the small size add up with the picked up stitches and the instep stitches to make 60 total.*

My thanks to Maegrette.

And from nutty4knit:

“I had to amend Row 8 of the heel turning and the remaining stitches for the small size in order for it to work with the total stitched after picking up stitches for the gusset.
Pattern says that there will be 12 sts remaining after working Row 8 for the small size. This does not work as there are 15sts remaining after row 7 and there is no decrease in Row 8. I continued the pattern established for the heel turning and worked Row 8 as follows:
Sl 1, p11, p2tog, p1 This leaves 14 stitches.
Then I adjusted the number of stitches picked up from the heel on the last needle from 6 to 7 (half of 14) and the stitch count works at 60 sts total (or the small size).”

Thank you to both!
