A few years ago I visited San Juan Island (in Washington state) with my family. We were driving along the island and a red fox was staying on the side of the road, just watching cars passing by. We stopped to take a few pictures of this beautiful creature. He took a few steps back into the forest, but in a few seconds we saw him again back on the road. He did not go anywhere far but just kept watching us from a safe distance. At that moment, I decided to knit this little fox with his pointy nose and big fat tail to emphasize his incredible curiosity. I made him small, and now he always travels with me on the rearview mirror of my car.
