This shallow shawl was designed to be work either as a traditional shawl over the shoulders or as a scarf/neckerchief, wrapped closely around the neck. The deep horseshoe shape means that the shawl fits wonderfully around the neck and shoulders no mater which way you choose to wear it.

The design was inspired by the character of Mr Tumnus is the fantasy land of Narnia. Mr Tumnus’s red scarf is practical for the situation of the never-ending winter, but here is a scarf or shawl that is decidedly more delicate - still warm but also beautiful - the kind of gift that Mr Tumnus might give to someone very special.

Only one 100g skein of 4-ply sock yarn is needed to complete this shawl. Both charted and written instructions are included, for those who show preference for one over the other.

The gauge given was achieved with a 5mm needle, but please check your gauge and size down to 4mm or 4.5mm if you are at all unsure.

SPECIAL ADDITIONS: A page of instructions of how to block the shawl into a perfectly balance horseshoe shape are also included, to give that wonderful curve to the finished knit.

Finished dimensions of the shawl are given below:
