Muad’Dib was both the name of the nimble desert mouse on Arakis and the Freman name Paul Atreides chose for himself. This pattern is worked toe up in stranded colorwork, the foot is then worked in stockinette stitch to a short row gusset heel. The cuff is worked in a textured rib resembling the “sandwalk”. The sandworms were attracted to rhythmic vibrations on the sand, to avoid attracting a worm the natives walk in a manner resembling the natural sounds of the desert referred to as the “sandwalk”. This pattern will have a narrow toe that can be blocked out if using a natural fiber.
