This beautiful afghan is knit in one piece with a seed stitch border. The classic geometric design draws inspiration from the classic woven mud cloth of Mali.

This afghan is inspired by Malian bògòlanfini, cotton fabric that is dyed with mud to achieve a bold, earthy colors. This knitted version uses no mud, just yarn to create a similar look. (Lion Brand Yarn)

Split Ring Stitch Markers

Circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches. Work back and forth on circular needle as if working on straight needles.

Afghan is worked in one piece in Stockinette stitch (k on RS, p on WS) with a Seed stitch border along each side.

Body of afghan is worked in intarsia colorwork, following written instructions for color changes. Use a separate ball or bobbin for each area of color.
