On our way home from a few days visiting family on the Southern Oregon Coast (and hiding from record-breaking heat in Portland), we stopped at a coastal wayside named after a local woman named Muriel O. Ponsler where we looked for agates, splashed in the ocean, and shot photos of this delightfully bright and fun shawl. In my very casual research on Muriel, I discovered that she was a forward-thinking woman who loved to entertain her neighbors in her adopted town of Florence. I’d like to think that a woman who had a flair for the fun, as well as a fantastic little beach named after her would have appreciated this shawl.
