Muzzle Loading Possibles Bag
FREE bonus pattern with purchase.
My adult son and huband are avid outdoorsmen. One day my son came to me and asked if I could make him a possibles bag for his muzzle loading supplies. That was the first time I had ever heard that term. After going into detail on what a possibles bag was and its function, we got on-line and started looking for a “camo” color yarn that would felt. We came across this beautiful soft Zitron Loft yarn that looked like it would be a “woodsy” enough color for the project (color #580 off white, brown multi-color).
He was the envy of his hunting buddies including my dad who made my mom whip him up a similar bag.
The leather strap is from Tandy Leather.com and the we made our own horn button, however I think you may be able to find a horn button on-line, or any other manly type button or closure would work.
Note: the loft yarn was a little pricy, I’m sure you could make this project out of any type of heavy worsted or bulky weight wool yarn that felts. You could also probably get away with holding 2 strands of a DK or worsted weight wool together throughout the bag, but make sure you have enough yardage. The bag can easily be made larger and deeper by adding stitches to the width and rows to the bag, don’t forget to make your flap wider.
