Dishcloths are the first thing I started knitting. I bet many other people started with dishcloths too. I still love them. Wouldn’t dream of using anything else! It occurred to me recently that I had never shared the pattern I always make for myself. I really do make the same ones over, and over, lol. Certainly nothing special about mine, but they may be a little looser knit than most. It’s just my personal preference. I list a recommended needle size of US 8 / 5.0 mm, which is a size larger than you usually see on the dishcloth patterns. So go down a size if you think you won’t like that.

If you are new to knitting, one thing worth mentioning is that these will not be a square when you are finished knitting. They will be about 8” tall and 7” wide until they are washed and dried.
