The slipped-stitch pattern of this cowl reminds me of the mitosis phase when chromatids separate to form two new cells. In a bid for us to remember the word mitosis, one of my science teachers always referred to it as “my toes itch”. I still remember that phrase 15 years later, hence the name of this cowl. When made with two high-contrast yarns, particularly long-colorway self-striping yarns, it creates a fabric with pops of color on a striped background. This pattern contains instructions that are both charted and written out line-by-line, depending upon your preference. I hope you enjoy finding novel color combinations for a unique look.

One size with nished dimensions of approximately 22”
(56 cm) circumference and 7.75” (20 cm) height.

Yarn

25g (approx. 55 yards) worsted weight yarn (CC)

achieve correct gauge.

Gauge
17 stitches x 28 rows in 4” (10 cm) square of slipped stitch
