You may choose to knit a pair in one pattern, another pair in the other, or knit one sock from each pattern! The purl motif in both patterns gives this sock a little more ease, so I opted to move down a needle size from my usual US 2 (2.75 mm) to a US 1.5 (2.5 mm) -- if you have a smaller, more narrow foot, use a US 1 (2.25 mm).
