An intricate heirloom piece.
Intended to provide comfort during the cold, dark Scandinavian winters, this luxurious shawl is as much a tonic for the mind as it is for the body. With its perfect balance between meditative linen stitch as well as more challenging techniques, Mysigt is designed to keep lots of different crocheters happy.

ONE SIZE
155 cm / 61” wide x 70 cm / 27.5” deep

CONSTRUCTION
Mysigt is worked flat from the top down, with increases at the tip and sides.

YARN
Kettle Yarn Co BEYUL DK
(Baby Yak, silk, merino; 212 m / 232 yds per 100g) – 2 skeins Black Quartz (A), 1 skein Yurt (B), 1 skein Balsam (C)
Rowan Kidsillk Haze (Sport; 70% Mohair, 30% silk; 210 m / 230 yds per 25g) – 2 balls Shadow (D1)
Rowan Fine Lace (Sport; 80% baby suri alpaca, 20% merino; 400 m / 437 yds per 50g) – 1 ball Antique (D2)

Yarn Alternatives
Any smooth, soft DK yarn can be used for the body of the shawl. To ensure a colour match for the yarns used in the border, choose a mohair yarn and an alpaca or merino lace by the same manufacturer. If using synthetic yarns, choosing something with some alpaca or wool content will help to achieve a good drape.

HOOKS, NEEDLES + NOTIONS
4mm hook, or as required to obtain gauge
Wool needle

GAUGE
21 sts x 21 rows = 10x10 cm in Linen Stitch
20 sts x 12 rows = 10x10 cm in 2-colour brioche
Gauge should be measured after blocking.

TECHNIQUES TO ENJOY
Basic crochet stitches, front post stitch, 2-colour crochet brioche, lace.

NOTE
The crochet brioche section is worked using two colours simultaneously, as with stranded crochet. A bit of practice might be required to get the tension right, but the result is a fluid, drapey fabric.

This pattern appeared first in Inside Crochet Issue 109, and is scheduled for independent re-release in Autumn 2019.
