This bag a “mystery” only in that we will be using a random number generator to determine what stitch and color to use for that day. You can follow along with the CAL or create your own list of random choices to work independently. A planning worksheet is included in the PDF download. I will create a list of numbers for the CAL - or feel free to use your own!

Any DK/sport, worsted, Aran or bulky weight yarn would work for this pattern as long as it has some strength to it. You can even combine multiple weights as long as they are close in size (DK + worsted, worsted + Aran, etc). I recommend using the hook size specified for that weight of yarn (e.g. US F / 5 (3.75 mm) for sport; US I / 9 (5.5mm) for Aran).

This project makes a great stash buster! Four different colors were used for the samples. Use just one color to highlight the stitches or make each row unique to really dig into that stash of scraps! (caution: adding more colors will result in more ends to weave in). I recommend limiting the number of variegated colorways used.

There are 20 stitches defined in the pattern in US crochet terminology. A few are simple stitches (single crochet, half-double crochet) along with some variations (FLO/BLO - front loop only / back loop only). Many of the stitches require two rounds to complete the pattern.

If you want a fun challenge to try different crochet stitches and at the same time use up some stash, this is the perfect pattern!
