This pattern is a redesign from my popular Mystic Mermaid Cocoon with changes to the fin, yarn and sizing options. You will crochet your mermaid tail in three different sections: the body, the fin and the ruffles.

In the fin section of the written instructions, the pattern is given in baby size with the other sizes in parenthesis: Baby (Toddler, Child, Teen, Adult)

The body and fin are sewn together with a tapestry needle. The ruffles are crocheted directly to the top of the mermaid tail. This technique is very easy once you get the hang of it but the written instructions can be somewhat confusing. To help with this, I’ve filmed a tutorial on how to add the ruffles:
