This is a pattern for a knit shawl that features two lace (and cable-lace) stitches that come to us from Japan. The focal stitch is an intricate and unique cable lace stitch that makes quite a statement. The border stitches are also unique, but quite a bit easier to knit. Combined, they make a one of a kind shawl, quickly becoming an heirloom.

Skill Level: Intermediate - Intermediate + (assuming a basic knowledge of cable-lace knitting).

The two stitches are both charted. There are also instructions contained within the pattern for an optional crocheted edging.

The stitches are charted out using symbols that are familiar to most Americans, Canadians and Europeans.

The shawl was expertly test knitted by Rosa Cefelu who can be contacted at: silentrose311@ gmail.com. The sample was knit using Mrs. Crosby’s HatBox in colorway, Vintage Port. (This yarn is no long available: a good substitute would be Fleece Artist BFL Sport)
