Crochet Abbreviations:

Ch: chain
Sl st: slip stitch
Sc: single crochet
Dc: double crochet
Dec: decrease
Inc: increase

Notes:

The parts will be worked in rows rather than a spiral, so don’t forget to do a sl st to close each row and to chain one before you start the next row.

Occasionally, you will be asked to crochet counter clockwise for a row. This will make it so the “right side” of the crochet switches sides.

When I switch the yarn in the last stitch of the row, I do this during the slip stitch. I insert my hook into the loops, and pull in the new colour. I chain one and start the new row in the new colour.

Ball Joint & Upper Body

Row 1: Crochet 6 sc into the middle of a magic ring with Skin coloured yarn. (6)

Row 2: sc, dec, sc, dec, sc, dec, sc (7)
Row 3: Sc around (7)
Row 4: sc around. (7)

Row 7: inc around (10)
Row 8: sc 4, inc 2, sc 4 (12)
Row 9: sc 5, inc 2, sc 5 (14)
Row 10: sc 6, inc 2, sc 6 (16)

Once you’ve finished the first leg fasten off and repeat for the second leg.

When you have both legs completed hold them together so that the legs are positioned correctly (the long end of each foot will be facing forward). Thread some Tan yarn through a free loop of the starting chain on both legs where they meet in the middle. Tie it off, and draw up a chain through the same loops.

Row 11: Sc around the legs as you would usually do, moving clockwise from the join all the way around. On the last stitch of this row, switch colours from Tan to White (18)
Row 12: Sc around, ignoring the join (18). Do NOT cut off the yarn when you have closed this row.

You are going to be attaching the ball joint/upper body to the legs. Stuff the ball joint/ upper body and the legs before you connect them together.

Row 13: Sc the two parts together. Go through one sc of the upper body and one sc of the legs using the White yarn attached to the legs. (18)
Row 14: sc around counter clockwise for one row. (18)
Row 15: sc around clockwise. (18)
Row 16: sc around (18)

Row 4: sc 7, dec 1 (8)
Row 5: dec, sc 4, dec (6)
Rows 6: sc around (6)
Row 7: sc around (6)
Row 8: sc around (6)
Row 9: sc 6. DO NOT join with sl st at the end of the row. The rest of the arm you will not sl st together. Ch1 and turn. (6)
Row 10: sc 6. On the last stitch of this row, switch colours from Tan to White. Ch 1 and turn. (6)
Row 11: sc, dec, dec, sc (4)
Row 12: Dec, dec (2)
Bind off and sew each arm to body.

Shoes (Make 2)

Row 1: Ch 4 with Light Blue yarn (4).
Row 2: sc into the 2nd chain from the hook on the left side of the v made. Sc into the next chain on the left side. You should be left with a single chain at this point. Sc twice into the left side of the chain and then once into the right side. Sc into the next chain on the right side. Sc into the last chain twice. Sl st to close row. (8)
Row 3: Inc around. Sl st to close row. (16)

Do not cut the yarn, continue to attach the shoe to the bottom of Namine’s foot.

Attaching the leg and shoe

Go through both loops of a sc on the shoe and both loops of a sc on the leg. Sc these together and repeat all the way around. Leave a long tail of yarn to add the shoe strap details. Do the same for other shoe.

Head

Row 1: sc 8 into magic ring using Tan yarn. (8)
Row 2: inc around (16)
Row 3: sc, inc* Repeat * around (24)
Row 4: sc around (24)
Row 5: sc around (24)
Row 6: sc around (24)
Row 7: sc, dec Repeat * around (16)
Row 8: sc around (16)
Row 9: sc, inc Repeat * around (24)
Row 10: sc counter clockwise around (24)

The rows you made so far will actually be on the inside of the head and function as a place for the body joint to go into, making the head pivotable.

Row 11: (go back to crocheting clockwise) sc 2, inc* Repeat * around (32)
Row 12: sc around (32)
Row 13: sc around (32)
Row 14: sc 7, dec 4, sc 2, dec 4, sc 7 (24)
Row 15: sc 6, inc 12, sc 6 (36)
Row 16: sc around (36)
Row 17: sc 4, dec* Repeat * around (30)
Row 18: sc 3, dec* Repeat * around (24)

At this point you should stuff the head and place eyes if you’re going to do safety or button eyes.

Row 19: sc 2, dec* Repeat * around (18)
Row 20: sc, dec* Repeat * around (12)
Row 21: dec around (6)

Ears (Make 2)

Sc 5 into magic ring using Skin yarn and arrange in half-circle shape. Attach to side of head.

Details:
• Add hair to the head. Cut yarn in to pieces that are twice the length you want the hair to be. They will be folded in half when you attach them to the head. Give her some shorter front hair bangs and a side part. After you have completed the hair lines and her part you can add a piece of hair in every other stitch. After you have added the all hair you can trim it if you need to.

How to add the hair strands:

  1. Insert crochet hook into one of the stitch spaces in the dolls head, and out of the one that is above.
  2. Fold your piece of yarn in half and loop it over the hook. Pull this yarn through the stitch space, but not completely (you should be making a loop)
  3. Pull the yarn ends over the hook and pull through this loop.
  4. Secure the yarn by pulling it tight to the head.

• Using a yarn needle, use the long tails from her shoes to add the sandal straps.

• You can embroider the eyes with yarn, use safety buttons, or use felt and fabric glue.
