If you enjoyed my ‘Nautical But Nice’ Boot Warmer, I’m very much hoping that you will love my ‘Nautical But Nice’ Sock design.

The sock pattern has been written generically to enable you to use your favourite sock yarn or get ‘stash-busting’ to make a sock to suit a variety of foot sizes. You will need between 100 - 150g 4 ply sock / fingering weight yarn, depending on the size required.

By following the written pattern as it is shown, you can make a ‘one-size’ sock, ahead of time, to put away for that last minute ‘emergency’ gift (finished size un-stretched using 3mm and 3.25mm needles is 23 cm) - so it really does cater for a variety of foot sizes (if you are not sure of the exact foot sizing needed).

You can adjust knitting gauge / tension, for a bespoke fit; this design will comfortably fit foot sizes: UK 3-7 / US 4-8 / European 35-41 depending on yarn and needle size used.

Gauge is approximately 8 sts per inch measured over stocking stitch using 3mm needles, or 9 sts per inch measured over stocking stitch using 2.5mm needles. 24 rows of pattern measures approx. 7cm using 3.25mm needles.

This design has the ‘Waves and Chain’ pattern and ‘Scroll Cable’ pattern extending on to the top of the foot, with a wide toe for comfort, and heel flap shaping.

The sock looks gorgeous knitted in cream, pastel or bright colours - it also suits multi / variegated yarns too.

Hopefully I have inspired you to get organised, get ‘stash-busting’ and make a pair for yourself, or a friend? It makes an ideal holiday gift, something to make and put away for an ‘emergency’ - so, what are you waiting for? :)

I hope you enjoy this design - please remember to post photos of your finished projects - I’d really love to see them.

Happy knitting everyone :)
