Ridged spirals, a bit of a point on top, and an abrupt end, this hat is reminiscent of a seashell.
Tall linked stitches make it whip up quickly, but without the gaps normal triples would have.

This is made with either one strand of Lion Jiffy (approx 103 yds) or two strands of Caron Simply Soft (220 yds total). It fits an adult medium.
If you use the two strands of Caron yarn, rather than one strand of Jiffy, the hat is a little stiffer. Be sure gauge matches, or the hat size will change. As written, it fits an adult medium.
It is worked in continuous, unjoined rounds. I recommend using a stitch marker to indicate the beginning of each round as you work. I’ve done my best to explain the stitches and to demonstrate them in photos within the pattern. Moogly has a great video tutorial for the linked treble, and I recommend watching it to familiarize yourself with the principal (http://www.mooglyblog.com/linked-treble-crochet-stitch/). If you are new to the stitch, this will help you understand not just the actual stitch, but my way of enlarging stitches in the beginning to get up to the linked treble.
