The simplicity of this pattern will probably stun you, especially when you see how stunning the finished shawl looks!!

I had been playing around with an idea a few months back and this is the result! I love it and knew that I would have to offer it as a free pattern!

There are no complicated stitches, no short rows, not even any decreases - just strategically placed Yarn-Overs that create a beautiful effect!

The shawl is knit from the centre of the circle outwards.

At the very latest, when you are blocking this shawl, you will see why I called it Nautilus!

I haven’t had this pattern tested. As it is a free download I see everyone as being a tester! I will start a KAL in my group “Irish Wasp Designs” and invite anyone who would like to, to join in. If there are any mistakes in the pattern naturally I will take care of them as soon as possible!

Update - 11.02.23 - thanks to

godeas for pointing this out -
Row 1 should read:

R1 (RS) K1; PM; YO; k2

06.03.18 - Update of German pattern. (When doing this I saw that the existing German pattern wasn’t visible in my own Library! I hope that wasn’t the case for everyone! Hopefully with this update that has been sorted out - if not please let me know!).

03.06.16 - I have increased the yardage required for the shawl. Looking at the projects so far, most other knitters use more yarn than I do (as usual!!).

19.04.16 - the pattern has been updated to add the German Version.(Danke Katja! Huge Thanks to Cottoncat for correcting my grammar!!) The English version has also been updated to correct some typos and to highlight the stitches in the text, which should make for easier reading of the pattern!
