This is an adult medium hat, and matching mittens, in worsted weight yarn that utilizes knit-purl stitches to create a textured design, using a Turkish motif. This pattern is suited to advanced beginners. The hat has been tested in worsted and light-worsted/dk weight yarns with stitch gauges of 18-20 st/4” to create adult medium hats. Adjusting the yarn weight and gauge will give you a smaller or larger hat.

The pattern includes a detailed mitten tutorial. The mitten tutorial is designed to allow the reader to convert any standard panel-oriented hat design and convert it into mittens, and to design your own mittens. The mitten tutorial covers customizing fit for traditional mittens with an invisible thumb.

This design has a central motif -- the burdock -- which is believed to ward off the Evil Eye, Nazar in Turkish. Hence the name, Nazar No More.

Because this is a knit-purl texture hat, it is highly recommended to use yarns that reflect light well. Typically these are tightly wound yarns, often in lighter colours, but not always. Wool is recommended, though some test knitters used other combinations, including a bit of silk content.

This pattern is due in a large part to the hard work and invaluable contributions of my test knitters. If you enjoy knitting this, they are to thank.
