This little rat presented an opportunity for me to escape a tricky parental situation through crochet. My daughter, who was approaching her eighth birthday, announced that she wanted a pet rat, like one of her friends living on a neighboring street. At that moment, we already had a cat called Moorits and it didn’t seem like a good idea to put
the rat right beside it, nor was I a big fan of rat hugs myself. So I grabbed my yarn and tested a few things and crocheted a life-sized rat for Linda’s birthday. I really enjoyed making it and my daughter still loves the end result, so everyone wins.
