neep heid
by Kate Davies
neep heid (pronounced neeeep heeeed) is a traditional colourwork tam, worked in my favourite Shetland yarn.
Involving icord cast-on, corrugated rib, and stranded colourwork, the design is based on the turnips growing in my allotment garden - turnips are one of my favourite vegetables!
You will need one 25g skein of each of four shades as follows:
for neepheid: shades FC56 (purple), FC12 (golden green) FC27 (grey) and 118 (mid green)
and for beetheid FC27 (grey), FC58 (heathered brown), 87 (burgundy) and 118 (mid green)
Top four photos show neepheid colourway --
lower three show beetheid colourway (thankyou, Liz!)
