The Nemesis Hat is companion to my Nemesis Mitts. Both use the same main pattern as appears in my Nemesis sock pattern, one of my most popular.

The hat is one size fits most, but the pattern is also highly customizable simply by adding or reducing the number of pattern repeats, or switching up the yarn weight (sport/DK)

Two skeins of indigodragonfly Merino 4 ply sock yarn will be enough to create both the hat and mitts as written. One skein will provide generous yardage for the hat.

Sizes: One size fits most. Hat is 10.25” across at the brim, 7.5” cast on edge to crown, blocked and laid flat.

Materials

  • Approximately 430 yards (393m) of Indigodragonfly Merino Sock yarn (1 skein= 390yd/356m per 3.5oz/100g), or similar. Sample knit in “Mum” colorway.

  • 1 set of 5 US #2 (2.75 mm) double-point or circular needles for the brim, US#2.5 (3.0 mm) for the body of the hat, or size needles required to obtain gauge.

  • Tapestry needle, cable needle (optional), stitch marker
