I am sickened and heartbroken by this morning’s (6/24/2022) Supreme Court ruling. They literally looked at laws from the 1800’s to inform their decision, setting women’s rights back 150 years. I am afraid for myself because I’ve been told in no uncertain terms that I will die in childbirth if I were to attempt it again, I am afraid for my pre-teen and teenage daughters, and I am afraid for every woman of childbearing age and all the women to come after me.

When I am confused, frustrated, angry, sad, upset, etc., I tend to get out my hooks and yarn. Today, my crochet hook seemed a little too reminiscent of the wire hangers our grandmothers and the generations before them had to use when they found themselves in a hopeless situation. So today, I put down my hook and went to my computer to create this design because I dissent. Because I cried on November 9, 2016. Because I know that women will die and children will be left without their mothers as a results of this ruling.
