This cute dress is knit top-down. The yoke is worked flat, then is joined to work the skirt in the round. The sleeves are worked flat with the yoke, then the sleeve stitches are put onto holders when the underarm is reached. Once the rest of the dress is knitted, the sleeve stitches are picked up and worked in the round.

The horizontal bands of stitches at the neck, waist, ruffle and the bottom of the sleeves are not just purl stitches. Those bands are raised. None of the dress is particularly difficult to knit and the finished dress is darling. The length can be made longer or shorter by knitting more or less rounds before you reach the bottom ruffle.

The closure is at the back, using 2 buttons.

The samples pictured were knit using Lion Brand Baby Soft yarn, but almost any sport weight yarn should work.
