I’m cutesy. I like my bows big and my polka dots prominent. I mix and match colors and patterns like most people wear black. If I could raid a fictional character’s closet, it would be Zooey Deschanel’s character Jess on New Girl. Her bow front, puff sleeve vintage mini dresses and array of patterned and brightly colored flats are drool worthy every week. But the best are her many high waisted circle skirts! With pockets, of course. This knit circle skirt is a Midwestern ode to Jess – with tights and boots this skirt is rockable all winter long even if you don’t live with Jess in California.

New Girl is knit from the elastic band down. Band is worked, stitches are increased for the body of the skirt. Stitches are held and back and front are worked separately for pockets, then body is rejoined and bottom of the skirt is completed with striping and Daisy Stitch. Stitches are picked up around pocket holes to complete pockets. While working Daisy Stitch, the colors not in use can be carried up the inside of the skirt.

Finished Size 29 (31, 35, 39, 43, 47, 50) waist measurement at belly button. If you want your skirt to hit at your natural waist, or just above your hips, use that measurement. Skirt show in 31”.
