This piece is knit back and forth, but a circular needle is recommended because of the weight of the yarn. Each dropped stitch adds approximately 3/4” to the width of the finished piece. An openwork border is worked around all edges of the piece up to the armholes. All shaping is worked to the inside of the border sts. Yarnovers within the border are used as buttonholes in the finished piece. When working the contrasting trim, I picked up 3 sts for every 4 on the horizontal edges, and 1 st for every 2 rows on the vertical edges. You may use the pick-up numbers given, or use whatever pick-up ratio gives you a pleasing edge.

Calls for 8 balls of Iceland in #0008, Cerise; and 4 balls of Whisper in #2843, Ebony.
Other materials: five 2” black buttons; five 1” black buttons for backing; stitch markers.
Gauge is on smaller needles.
