New York Sour is a simple, textured pullover designed to highlight the gorgeous heather and subtly varied colors of Jill Draper’s new Ansel yarn.

The sweater features overall texture, with just a few design elements here and there to ensure neat transitions, easy finishing, and a little detail to keep it interesting.

For my sample sweater, I chose a two shades of Ansel, and worked them in a simple colorblock pattern. However, this pullover easily lends itself to additional blocks, allover stripes, a few accent stripes on a solid background, or a solid version (see the test knits!!). You can decide yourself, depending on the amount of Ansel colors that call your name or the amount of yarn you have in stash.

The simplicity of the pattern, the range of sizes, and the ease of modifying fit also makes this a fantastic unisex pattern - as well as an appropriate sweater for either an adult OR your teenage child - as seen here, and in a test or two. Adjusting fit is simple and notes are included in the pattern.

New York Sour is knit in two pieces, and then seamed at shoulders and sides. Collar and sleeves are picked up and worked in the round from the seamed body.

Texture pattern is both charted and written.
