“Welcome to the World” newborn set was created as a gift for Jaxon Xavier, a chubby robust baby born to a friend’s niece.
Not knowing if the baby was to be a boy or girl the request was for a mint coloured hat and mittens. I chose to make this rib knit toque in Red Heart Smoothie as it is a soft and pliable yarn that can stand many washings. The mittens were done with a smiley face embroidered on the palm of the hand and to make dressing easier I did not make any thumb on the mittens.
Easy and quick to knit and adorable when finished. The toque seems small but will fit any newborn’s head from 12” to 15 and even 16” circumference. It is also easily adjustable to a larger head if you just add more stitches when you begin the cast on.
Simple, easy, and the cutest gift for the newborn baby in your family.
’My gift to everyone who wants to download this pattern. :)
Happy Knitting. xo wendy
