Knit sideways in an easy textured stitch with inlaid “pearls,” Night Market incorporates eight colors to mimic the southeastern Asian pasar malam, or “night market,” which holds light and warmth up against the inky night.

Don’t let the length of this pattern alarm you - because of the 8-row texture stitch repeat, the 2-row increase repeat, the 4-row shaping repeat, and the color changes, the instructions work best given in line-by-line format.

Skills required:
• Yarn overs
• Increasing
• Decreasing
• Slipping stitches
• Picot bind-off (instructions provided)

Yardage details:
The sample was knit in Miss Babs Caroline (fingering-weight merino/cashmere/nylon) and used:
• One 6-skein Grand Bazaar gradient set (133 yards per mini skein)
• 70 yards of Ebony for the pearls, edging, and picot bind-off
• 275 yards of Corset for the last two segments

(If you are not using a gradient set and need more exact yardage, the grams of each color used in the sample can be seen on my project page. Best to add a 10% cushion to these numbers! The lower-end yardage number reflects those numbers with the 10% added.)

Miss Babs has worked up some special sets for this in both Caroline and Yummy 2-Ply to make choosing colors easier for you. See them here!
