Night Ride Through The Caucasus is a shawlette inspired by the Loreena McKennitt song of the same name. It is shown knit in a handspun yarn but can be just as lovely knit in a commercially spun yarn.

Yarn – Shown knit in yarn spun from 100g Malabrigo Nube, 2ply, approximately sport weight.
Some commercial alternatives (fingering to sport weight. I suggest a minimum of 100g): Schoppel Wolle Zauberball Crazy, Crystal Palace Sausalito, Cascade Heritage Wave, Knitting Fever Painted Desert, Jojoland Melody, Patons Kroy FX, Debbie Bliss Rialto Luxury Sock, Bendigo Woolen Mills Transitioning Sock, and Knit Picks Chroma Twist Fingering.
Note: you can knit this shawlette to any size and in any weight yarn. Choose a needle size on the larger end of what is recommended for your yarn to give some drape.

Needles 3.25mm straight or circular (60-80cm length) needles or size to obtain 6.5 stitches and 9 rows per 2.5cm/1” in stocking stitch, blocked. Gauge need not be exact, but it will affect the size of your shawl and the amount of yarn you use.

Stitch markers. Minimum 3, you may wish to use more to separate pattern repeats.

Wool needle for weaving in ends.
