This pattern developed from an infatuation with the Icelandic Lopi, and a need for a warm pair of mittens to nourish me through the Polar Vortex of 2014. Named for my hometown river in southern Ontario, Canada.

It’s a simple little mitten pattern with a Latvian twist edging and a colourful fingertip decrease that makes a subtle point. The pattern would surely work in any worsted weight yarn that meets gauge, but I have come to endear the lightness, warmth and colour offerings of the Léttlopi, so do consider it. Offered in seven sizes so you can give them a go for the whole family. Hope you enjoy, and are warmed to the heart.

Skill level: Intermediate
Skills required: Latvian twist edging (basic photo tutorial included), e-loop cast on, picking up stitches.
