N.M.P.B. means No More Plastic Bags!
Born of the frustration I have regarding the quantity of plastic bags I tend to accrue, I designed these bags to be small produce-centric market bags. Pretty and practical I use them everywhere I can, and feel pretty good about the number of plastic bags I have NOT used.

This “compact edition” is a sample from the full version available here. You have one brim option and one mesh option, but both sizes and base-types… if you decide you would like the full version, you will get $2 off the price! Just send me a message and I’ll send you a discount code The full version contains 4 brims, 5 different mesh patterns and the two sizes and base options! More than 30 iterations of the bag!

Please note, the photo on this page is showing the mesh pattern that is included for this project, the handle option is a simple drawstring, instructions for the pictured handle are included in the larger version of the pattern for now, sorry for the confusion! If you had purchased this pattern hoping for this particular handle, please send me a PM and we’ll see what we can do!

Gauge: Each mesh pattern is slightly different, gauge isn’t strictly important here, but if you use smaller needles you may end up using more yarn and your finished bag will weigh a little more. It will help to have a scale to pre-weigh your yarn, this way you can keep track of the weight of your FO.

Yarn Needs: 1-2 ounces of fingering weight washable yarn, superwash sock yarn will work, fingering weight cotton, linen or hemp is recommended. My standard size samples weigh an average of .75 oz and the large ones are around 1.3 oz. You can make a standard sized one with about quarter of a skein of sock yarn!

Notions: tapestry needle for weaving in ends. Optional items: waste yarn for I-cord drawstring and pass-through handle; for buttonhole handle: crochet hook (size F or similar) and dpn one or two sizes smaller than the needle you are using for the brim.
