Afghan approximate finished size: 60 X 76. Individual squares: 8.5 X 8.5 after single crochet edging (US terminology).

  • Yarn needle for sewing afghan together, and for monogram embroidery on square #50.

The book contains instructions for 100 varied stitches, with number of cast-on needed for sampler sized squares.

The complete afghan instructions are on page 38 (1982 edition). It is created by knitting 63 squares of your choice or as shown on assembly diagram, in three colors.

Yardage based on recommended 24 skeins of Bucilla Softex. As available at publication date of 1982, Softex was 4 oz of 280 yds each.

Number of skeins needed:

  • Color A (light): 9
  • Color B (dark): 12
  • Color C (joining): 3
