These socks are quick and easy to make with a faux-cable ribbing pattern and DK-weight yarn. They are worked from the top down, with classic heel- and toe-shaping techniques. The ribbing keeps the leg and ankle snug, the heel stitch adds extra strength to an area that gets extra wear, and the stockinette stitch is smooth on the foot, making the socks quite comfortable to wear.

Because of the exaggerated twist of this yarn, the knit fabric is quite strong. and it also gives the stockinette-stitch portion of the sock
an interesting texture. If you have extra-sensitive feet, try working the foot of the sock inside out so that smooth knit side of the fabric is inside and the bumpy purl stitches are on the outside.
