This pattern is meant to evoke traditional American patriotism and not the white nationalism polluted version that is so common these days. It’s a semi-circular shawl shape and the squishy Berroco Alpaca Ultra gives it lovely drape and stitch definition. Minor color work is needed for the star bobbles but its suited for confident beginners.

Yarn:
Berroco Ultra Alpaca - 1 hank Azure Mix (Blue) – 100g / 215 yds

Berroco Ultra Alpaca - 2 hanks Winter White – 100g / 215 yds

Berroco Ultra Alpaca - 2 hanks Cardinal (Red) – 100g / 215 yds
-I used Ruby Mix for my red but it has recently been discontinued. Cardinal is a good red colorway and should serve well. I will warn you guys that I used every last bit of the red yarn that I had and still came up a bit short so if you tend to knit looser than normal or want a fancy bind off I would recommend a 3rd hank of red yarn (you can make the red stripes 1 or 2 rows larger to use up all of you yarn if you want). I used a small bit of blue on the bind off instead since I was planning on adding tassels/fringe.

Needles:
US size 8 (5 mm) 60-inch circular needles (I used ChiaoGoo red lace needles)
-the shawl ends up being quite long so the longer circular needle is very handy
