Wrap yourself in a twirling shawl with an asymmetrical pattern that will whirl around you like an old dress, like a dance, or like a romantic piano tune.

Wear it at night over a black velvet dress, or as an elegant everyday capelet to go to the market. Its shape allows it to sit comfortably over your shoulders and drapes you in its warm fabric.

Nocturne Shawl is knitted flat on a long circular needle. It is made of three identical triangles featuring a stitch pattern made of parallel diagonal lines created by decreases and yarn overs. Two cables frame the centre triangle and the sides of the shawl are worked in garter stitch. The triangles are twisted due to the asymmetrical nature of the stitch pattern and give the shawl its whirling aspect.

I originally designed this shawl for my sister. She’s always loved to dress up for any occasion. In fact, when we were teenagers, I remember seeing her wearing the most beautiful long black dresses when she had just a few friends over. I wanted to give her a shawl that aligns with her retro, turn of the 20th century style while making it a practical item to add to her everyday wardrobe.
