I was originally looking to make a basketweave scarf in the round so there was never a “wrong” side. After a few failed attempts I figured out that if the #purl=#knit stitches in a row there wouldn’t be a “wrong” side anyways. So, this scarf is a 5knit 5purl, single-layer scarf. The #rows per block was calculated to make each block as perfectly square as possible. This scarf is also very tightly knit. For a looser weave I would suggest using 5.0mm or even 6.0mm needles depending on how you knit.

I named this scarf Nokomis for the stormy coastal winters here in Nokomis, FL. Often purple stormy skies roil over a sunlit turquoise shore. The contrast is breath-taking.
