The pattern for this set of 3 baubles creates a charming addition to any Christmas tree, lending a handmade touch to the celebrations! They make a lovely gift for others, or to personalise your own tree. They can be knit in Aran or DK yarn, but please ensure to use the appropriate needle size (5mm/US 8 for the Aran baubles, 4mm/US 6 for the DK baubles) – if in doubt, go for a smaller size than you would normally use, to avoid stuffing poking through the baubles. The baubles are knit back and forth, so either straight needles or circular needles (working back and forth) can be used.

They would be suitable for an improving knitter, as the skills required are increasing, decreasing, and working a simple cable. Any Aran or DK yarn is suitable to use as the main yarn, with a small quantity of gold yarn required for 2 of the 3 baubles. The baubles measure approx. 4 inches/10 cm across (when worked in Aran yarn) and 3 inches/8 cm (when worked in DK yarn). Some toy or cushion stuffing is also required, as is a needle to sew up the baubles; a crochet hook would be useful to work the hanging loop but is not a requirement. Likewise, a cable needle would be useful for working the cable band bauble.
