Zweifarbige Version: Holst Supersoft, Farbe Fenland (3 x 50 g), Farbe Kingfisher (1 x 50 g)

Größe: 185 cm x 75 cm (Wollmeise Lace) / 170 cm x 66 cm (Holst Supersoft)

………………………………………………………………………………………………

Nordnordwest (English: North-northwest) is a large yet lightweight, symmetrical triangular shawl, that gives a handpainted multicoloured lace yarn the occasion to shine. You start with the inner triangle, which is knitted flat and in rows, after that you pick up and knit stitches along the edge so you can work a large section of stockinette stitch in rounds. The garter stitch edging, which finishes the shawl, hightlights the yarn’s different colours. The size can be easily adjusted to your preferences.

On the island where I grew up every tree is a litte bit slanting. Because the wind almost always comes from northwest. My shawl protects from this wind; it wraps up, it warms and because of its variegation even gloomy days seem to be a little bit more colourful and less grey when wearing it.
When knitting the shawl there are no limits to your imagination: It can be worked with a multicoloured yarn, plain-coloured or with two completely different colours. It’s very handy that the shawl is worked seamlessly in one piece - so there are no troublesome threads to weave in at the end. The two-coloured version is included in the pattern as well.

Required techniques: knit and purl stitches, knit and purl 2 stitches together, slip stitches, make one left and right (explained in the pattern), wrap & turn (explained in the pattern), pick up and knit stitches (shown in the tutorial), provisional cast on (shown in the tutorial), kitchener stitch (shown in the tutorial).

Yarn: Multicoloured version: 225 g Wollmeise Lace, colour Pfauenauge
Two-coloured version: Holst Supersoft, colour Fenland (3 balls (50 g)), colour Kingfisher (1 ball (50 g))

Measures: 73” x 29” - 185 cm x 75 cm (Wollmeise Lace) / 67” x 26” - 170 cm x 66 cm (Holst Supersoft)
