My walks through the forest during winter days inspire the design of this cowl. During these peaceful walks I observe and almost sense how some plants try to elongate their stems in the search of light. It is in these moments where Noreen, an Irish name meaning light, is born.

The pattern is knit in the round repeating a symmetrical cable with a little bobble representing a flower or bud at the top edge of the cowl. I have created a larger and smaller version of this pattern with different measurements for you to choose.

For this project I have chosen a 100% merino yarn: Malabrigo Chunky. The colour Frank Ochre reminds me of the lichen that one can find in the forest close to my house, but also in the sunlight penetrating through the trees and vegetation.

You will need 176 yds. /156m approx. of Chunky yarn for the large cowl version and 100 yds. / 92m for the shorter version.
